I don’t want to follow you on the gram. I don’t want to listen to your pod. While we await our big break here at TSR we dive into the exploding dynamic duo that are Wet Leg. Their self titled album hit streaming sites and record stores in early April and it’s been a rocket ship of stardom ever since.
Well let’s waste no time dancing around it: Wet Leg is an instant classic built for the modern day. It’s completely relatable for the lives of young and old and the feelings experienced during the daily grind that we call life. But Rhian Teasdale, lead singer and writer for Wet Leg, doesn’t let the bleak subject matter of daily life struggles bring the album down, she instead presents the topics with smarts and humour liken to a veteran who has mastered their craft. It’s a relentless and sarcastic take on present day life and it’s one that’s so understandable you’re not sure if you should laugh, scream, or cry. No one would blame you if you did all three.
Not to be outdone by her band mate, lead guitarist Hester Chambers delivers tasty hook after tasty hook across the album and even shows off her singing chops on the mid album break Convincing. Her backing vocals, or in some cases sound effects (pew pew), are on point throughout and delivered in a well timed fashion to perfectly compliment the album.
Together the duo have created a cohesive collection of tracks with not one reasonably skippable amongst the bunch. The album covers a myriad of anxiety inducing subjects including catchy album opener and self explanatory Being In Love which Teasedale likens to a punch in the guts, the pop influenced Angelica about being at a party you so desperately want to leave, and the dreary COVID inspired Supermarket written about the weekly highlight of grocery shopping during the pandemic days. There’s also viral hit Chaise Longue written about a damn chair, a few hilarious breakup tracks that create feelings of both sadness and laughter, and personal favourite Wet Dream about dating and physical attraction.
Wet Leg have compiled the greatest indie debut in recent memory. What comes next will certainly set the career stage but it will be interesting to look back on the longevity and musical importance of this album years down the road.
Is your album reviewed? Would you like us to assign someone to review your album? Viral hit Chaise Lounge will hook you while Rhian Teasdale’s smart and witty lyrics will reel you in. An incredibly efficient and overly impressive debut album from the British outfit.

ROZ
I stand before the TSR universe today with the fullest of heart and the wettest of leg. The titular album released by the sensational duo Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers is one that may have flown under many radars but ultimately warrants our attention. For what reason you ask? Well roll up your pants, we’re hanging out by the pool today.
As my usual album breakdown goes, typically at this point I would signify two to three highlights (and lowlights) that summarizes the album experience best. However, for this weeks review I find myself having a hard time selecting these choices which, ultimately, is a testament to the albums quality as a whole. Every song brings about its own individual positive takeaway – Chaise Longue lyrically channels its inner Mean Girl (is your muffin buttered? Great film by the way) and sets the tone with quirky chord progressions and an even quirkier vocal style. I Don’t Wanna Go Out notably pays homage to The Man That Sold The World (RIP Bowie and Cobain). Wet Dream is an undeniably groovy jam that’s fun as hell. Loving You displays the band's diversity by delivering something warmer, slower, and more introspective. Ur Mom is a goddamn blast from beginning to end (the screaming section at the end is strange enough to actually work, and I’d bet my bottom dollar that this section is real fun live). Like I mentioned, I could go on and on but ultimately this is an experience that you need to have for yourself in order to appreciate it.
Wet Leg oozes with style; with Rhian’s deadpan delivery serving as a direct contrast to the upbeat rock soundscape that her vocals are laid atop of. While some songs do stick out more so than others, you would be hard pressed to find a bad song on the entire track listing. The crew at Too Sweet Reviews has been chomping at the bit to do this album and needless to say it delivered on all fronts. Going forward, this is a band that I’ll be scouring future lineups for in order to ensure that TSR gets the chance to see them up close and in person one day. To sum this review up in fewer words: Wet Leg is pure, unadulterated fun. This week’s homework for everyone reading this: head to your favorite streaming platform and give this one a listen, then let us know what you think on our Instagram. Note: Leg dryness will not be tolerated.

REID
Jimmy Kimmel used to do a popular bit on late night TV called Lie Witness News where a member of his crew did random interviews about fake bands. He explains it better than me, check this clip: Lie Witness News - Coachella 2013 - YouTube. Roz, that you at 2:23? Oh man, it’s almost too cringeworthy to get through. Anyway, that’s where my mind went when a friend recommended viral hit, Chaise Longue, by indie rock band Wet Leg earlier this year. The female duo apparently chose the name while playing an emoji game… oh, millennials.
I enjoyed the hell out of their earworm of a hit. I dug a little deeper to realize this was their first album. Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers (new favourite name) were friends for a decade before forming a band in 2019. They had three or four singles out and I genuinely enjoyed them all. My immediate thought was ‘Lundi’s gonna love this one’. Catchy indie pop with female vocals = right up his alley. He seemed lukewarm initially but the album came out and he absolutely had the wettest legs of the group, pushing hard to get it reviewed. Nice when a plan comes together. Looking forward to his thoughts on this one.
A meme is an appropriate add to a review of Wet Leg as Rian and Hester don’t take themselves too seriously on their debut album. It’s funny, sarcastic and honestly just makes you feel good. On the opening track, Being In Love, Teasdale compares it to ‘being punched in the guts’. Later she sings ‘When I think about what you’ve become, I feel sorry for your Mum’. Relatable thoughts combined with an indie rock tempo that remains impressively consistent through its 37-minute runtime. Their sound is very polished for a new group. Standout tracks are Chaise Longue, Wet Dream, Ur Mum and Piece of Shit. The last three sounding like adolescent punchlines.
The name, Wet Leg, has been a running TSR joke for months. The female duo back up their quirky name with an amusing and entertaining album, just in time for summer. Throw this one on with your pals on a hot day while you’re ‘on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, all day long, on the chaise longue’.
